English 6th-Grade

In 6th Grade English, students will have the chance to enhance their skills, preparing them for future success in language arts. Students will be encouraged to develop advanced abilities in reading, writing, oral communication (including Google Slides presentations, iMovie presentations, etc.), and constructing logical arguments.

Students will learn to support their theses with textual evidence. Grammatical, mechanical, and syntactical aspects of language will be taught in the context of the writing process. Engaging in both in-class and out-of-class reading, individual and group research projects, stimulating class discussions, and diverse writing assignments will be essential components of the curriculum.

Our adopted StudySync curriculum will provide a creative framework for students to undertake projects that resonate with their interests and showcase their talents, all while aligning with the Common Core National Standards for 6th grade. The Common Core emphasizes the importance of using textual evidence to support student claims.
